Fans of female jazz vocalists such as Nina Simone, Lena Horne and Cassandra Wilson should be right at home with the music of Charmaine Clamor, who is performing here in Kodiak tomorrow (Saturday) night. She’s been described as "a Filipino Sarah Vaughan."
Clamor (clah-MOOR) is performing at 7 o’clock Saturday evening at the Gerald C. Wilson Auditorium. Tickets are available at the Kodiak Arts Council office or at the door.

Clamor (clah-MOOR) grew up in the small town of Subic-Zambales (SOO-bic sum-BAH-lez) in the Philippines, and moved to America as a teenager. She was discovered while working as a karaoke host:
