Mr. Whitekeys Performs Friday & Saturday!

Alaskan icon "Mr. Whitekeys" returns to Kodiak this weekend for two performances. Whitekeys and his "fabulous Spamtones" were scheduled to perform a benefit for KMXT earlier in the year but had to postpone due to a family illness. He says that everyone is "doing fabulously" now and he’s eager to come here. For Whitekeys, the allure of the island is somewhat different than that of your average tourist.

(Whitekeys 1 "The last time … a wonderful weekend!")

Mr. Whitekeys is famous in Alaska for his "Fly-By-Night Club" which he opened in 1980 to showcase. his musical comedy act. He closed down the club a few years ago after a 26 year run.

Now, Whitekeys takes his act on the road and is loving the freedom of no longer managing a bar.

The Whitekeys brand of humor skewers Alaskan life with no holds barred- including Kodiak’s military history.

(Whitekeys 2 "It turns out … bottle of beer.")

Mr. Whitekeys and his band will perform at 8 p.m. this Friday and Saturday night at El Chi’s. He says he has, "no idea" what the show will entail.

(Whitekeys 3 "We’ve got the… heart of Kodiak.)

The Mr. Whitekeys concert is a benefit for KMXT. Tickets are still available but going fast.

Following his comedy act each night Whitekeys will perform a rock and roll set for dancing. Tickets are $25 and are available at KMXT, El Chicano’s and The Treasury.
