It took nearly 10 years but Kodiak now has a new police station. The modern facility – located on Mill Bay Road across from Cost-Savers – had its first public viewing Wednesday.

KMXT’s Maggie Wall attended the ribbon cutting ceremony and has this report:

You couldn’t have asked for a nicer day to whip out the huge red painted scissors and snip the ribbon on the new police station. And, judging from the comments of those attending, you couldn’t ask for a nicer building to house Kodiak’s police department and emergency services center.

Visitors were barred from a large portion of the building as it is still a construction zone. Police Chief T.C. Kamai says he’s looking at that portion being completed before the end of the year…
