The A. Holmes Johnson Memorial Library will be closed this week for much needed roof repairs.
The closure is set for today (Mon) thru Thursday, and may be extended depending on how weather affects the project.
The Kodiak City Council last month awarded the contract for the repairs of the library as well as a painting project to Brechan Enterprises. The city had estimated the package of projects to cost roughly $1.2 million. Brechan’s bid came in at a little over $1 million.
City Manager Aimee Kniaziowski explained the project to the council during the July 22nd regular council meeting.
Library patrons are asked not to return books or other materials during the construction period. Instead, hold onto you things until the library reopens-perhaps on Friday-and return them then. The library plans to adjust the check-in procedure so that any materials due during construction will not be subject to an overdue fine if they are returned when the library reopens.
