Branson Running Unopposed for Council Seat

There will be a new, though familiar, face on the Kodiak City Council by the end of October. The filing deadline closed on Friday.

Kodiak Island Borough Assemblywoman Pat Branson is running unopposed for the one-year term open on the Kodiak City Council. She is not seeking re-election to the assembly. The one-year seat is open after the resignation of Paul Smith, two years into his term. Councilwoman Mary Monroe, who is filling the seat temporarily, is not running for election to a full term.

Meanwhile, there is a three-way race for the two, three-year terms on the council, and another familiar face is one of the candidates. Three-year incumbent Terry Haines, and one-year incumbent John Whiddon are facing a challenge by former long-time councilman Charlie Davidson. The top-two vote getters in the October 5th municipal election will be seated.
