Folks in Kodiak will once again this year have a unique way of supporting the arts – through a buffalo hunt in Kodiak’s back country. The hunt, provided by Burton Ranch, will be raffled off in January, and the lucky winner will get to head out in search of the large, hoofed ungulate.
Darcy Stielstra (steel straw) is helping organize the hunt for the Kodiak Arts Council:
— (Art Hunt 1 27 sec "The hunt this year is … should be quite an experience.")
Bison can grow to six-feet tall and approach a ton in weight, which translates to a lot of steaks and ground beef:
— (Art Hunt 2 27 sec "I don’t know exactly … auction, raffle, winning.")
A buffalo hunt is a rather unique way to support the arts, but Stielstra says, that’s just how Kodiak is:
— (Art Hunt 3 44 sec "Actually, I’ve seen it one … how they support the arts.")
Tickets are available from arts council board members or Mack’s Sports Shop. The winner will be drawn during the annual Arts Council Auction in January.
