The work replacing a temporary culvert across the Chiniak Highway beyond Bell’s Flats, which was postponed from last week due to weather, got underway this morning. Jascha Zbitnoff, a superintendent with Brechan Enterprises, explains the scope of the project.

(Panamaroff 1 27 sec "Yeah, we’ll be replacing … for cars and traffic.")

Temporary repairs were made on several creek crossings after the storm of the decade passed through Kodiak just over a year ago, causing flooding, landslides and road closures.

Zbitnoff says this summer many of those temporary repairs were made permanent:

(Panamaroff 2 12 sec "We did a temporary culvert … Antone Larsen Road.")

The work will run from 8 a.m. today until perhaps 9 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday), but could be completed sooner. Keep you’re eyes open for flaggers and equipment. Panamaroff Creek is at about mile 11, just past the Rendezvous.
