Governor Sean Parnell has tapped his fisheries aide Cora Campbell to be acting commissioner of Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

Outgoing Commissioner Denby Lloyd steps down at the end of the month as does the director of commercial fisheries, John Hilsinger.

Campbell’s interim appointment was announced this morning.

Meanwhile, the joint boards of Fish and Game have announced they are accepting resumes from prospective nominees through December 8th. Names of possible permanent appointees that have been circulating had included Campbell.

But others reportedly being mulled are Trident Seafoods executive John Garner. Former Fish and Game chief McKie Campbell as also been floated as a contender. In 2008 he was appointed by Sen. Lisa Murkowski to serve in Washington D.C. as the Republican chief of staff on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
