A 64-year-old Afognak Island woman suffering from a possible stroke was medevaced Friday morning by a Coast Guard helicopter. The Coast Guard Air Station in Kodiak reports that relatives called the command center at about 9:45 a.m. to report that the woman was in distress.
An MH-60 Jayhawk was diverted from a training mission and touched down on Afognak at about 11:50 a.m. The woman was brought to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center where her condition was listed Friday as stabled.
The woman’s name was not released.
