Auditions begin today for the first major production presented by the Kodiak Arts Council in three years.

Tom Quass is the executive director of the Kodiak Arts Council. He says – thanks to Disney – many will know the words to this spring’s musical production of "Beauty and the Beast" by heart.

–(((Beauty and Beast 1 :27 "Beauty and the Beast…that’ll be fun.")))

Quass says that while the show is for children, the actors are primarily adults:

–(((Beauty and Beast 2 :17 "There’s probably…. in it.")))

The play is directed by what Quass calls "The Dynamic Duo."

–(((Beauty and Beast 3 :18 "The music…on the big stage.")))

Auditions for Beauty and the Beast are being held today and tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. on the auditorium main stage. Of course, actors are just one part of a major production, so if you play an instrument, can paint or pound a nail, or are interested in being part of the stage or technical crew, give the Arts Council a call. The number is 486-5291.
