A Kodiak seafood processor has officially taken the name of its parent company seven years since its acquisition. As of January 1st, Island Seafoods is now officially Pacific Seafoods, taking the name of the Portland, Oregon-based company that bought it in 2003.
The name change has been a gradual one. A sign in front of the seafood processor and retail outlet on Shelikof Street bearing the name Pacific Seafoods was installed last summer.
The Kodiak plant’s general manager, John Whiddon, released a statement saying, "We feel this name change will only further the company’s opportunities, as well as allow us to better serve our fleets and customers in Kodiak."
The company continues to direct market retail seafood across the country through its website and storefront in Kodiak.
