Enrollment is up at Kodiak College-and it’s not too late to take a class this semester. KMXT’s Maggie Wall has more.

Kodiak College spring enrollment is up 25 percent over last semester. And the number of full-time students is the highest since 2004.
Kodiak College Director Barb Bolson:
((College Enrollment Up 1 :16 sec "Actually our total…that we’ve seen."))
Bolson says there are a number of reasons for the increase in student interest at the local college everything from the economy to a desire for career changes to a desire by younger students not to take on debt:
((College Enrollment Up 2 :37 sec "We think there’s a lot…complete the credential requirements."
It’s hard to say there is a typical student at Kodiak College. Instead, the student body is changing as times change. Bolson and several students talked about the value of the college at the last regular meeting of the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly. She said there’s a reason she chose those particular students to participate:
((College Enrollment Up 3 :36 sec "I was fortunate…on the campus."))

The college has new classes starting all semester long, so if you’re interested in taking some sort of class there are a lot of options. For instance a number of self-paced labs, fitness classes, yoga and rock climbing and even a class on commercial bear viewing.
Contact the college for more information.
I’m Maggie Wall.
