Off-Leash Dogs Causing Problems at Fort Abercrombie State Park

Park Rangers at Fort Abercrombie State Park are reporting problems with unleashed dogs acting aggressively. Kevin Murphy is the park’s district ranger and says there have been problems this winter.

The park is divided into two sections with the north area closed to dogs off leash. Murphy says he’s already discovered two deer killed by dogs.

Murphy says that if people continue to flout the leash laws at the park there could be consequences.

— park dogs 3 ::17 “I’d like to continue … to unleashed dogs.”

Dog owners caught with their pet off leash are routinely fined $50. If the animal is caught and impounded the total cost with court fees is $110 to recover the animal.
