Kodiak Police say are awaiting toxicology test results froma driver who reportedly struck a pedestrian in Saturday’s fatal accident on Mill Bay Road.

64-year-old Angela Cabrera Saculles was walking eastbound on Mill Bay Road when police say she was struck by a car traveling in the same direction. Firefighters treated her at the scene and transported her to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center but doctors were unable to resuscitate her.

Police have released few details surrounding the collision that occurred around 7:22 p.m. near Ole Johnson Avenue.

In a release Thursday, police reported that the unidentified driver immediately stopped and remained on scene to wait for emergency responders. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to have been a factor but police say they’ve ordered a blood test as is routine in fatal accidents. Results of those tests routinely take several weeks.

No charges have been filed. Police Chief T.C. Kamai said once the investigation has been concluded the results will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office.
