Bethea Sets Course Record on Coffee-to-Coffee Fun Run

Thirty-six (36) brave souls endured the inclement weather Saturday to participate in the 8^th annual Coffee to Coffee Fun Run, a fundraising event for the Kodiak High School track and field team. Racers ran from Harborside Coffee on Shelikof Street to Mill Bay Coffee on Rezanof, a distance of about three miles. Track coach Marcus Dunbar said the roads were icy and snowy, with an air temperature of 22 degrees. He said that though the wind was in the face of the runners, the late afternoon snowstorm held off until after the race.

Despite the conditions, high school senior Jaymi Bethea set a new women’s course record with a time of 22-minutes 7-seconds.

Dylan Anthony had the fastest time for the second year in a row, winning the open men’s division in 19-minutes 45-seconds.

Dunbar said the event raised $325 for the track and field team.
