The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly meets tonight (Thursday) to consider several items including an ordinance to amend the borough code regarding appeals to the Board of Equalization. Also on the agenda is a contract for roof reinforcement at the middle school, and an ordinance supporting the Alaska Commission on Aging’s legislative priorities.
The assembly will hold a hearing on the proposed changes to the code dealing with the Board of Equalization. That part of the code hasn’t been updated since a minor revision in 1998.
The proposal would clarify and give better guidance for appellants regarding appeals to their property tax assessments.
The middle school roof reinforcement contract is part of seismic upgrades.
Tonight’s meeting begins at 7:30 in the Assembly Chambers and will be broadcast live on KMXT.
