No Japanese Radiation Detected in Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – Alaska officials say radiation monitors show no cause for alarm from the damaged Japanese nuclear reactors.
Officials say Sunday’s reading for the Anchorage monitor show radiation levels "well within the normal background range."
According to officials, normal background ranges for Dutch Harbor, Nome, Juneau and Fairbanks may differ from the Anchorage range.
Officials say those sites will be formulated once the monitors are calibrated and regular readings are being received, but they add that the levels shown are thousands of times below any level of concern.
President Barack Obama has said "harmful levels" of radiation from the Japanese nuclear disaster aren’t expected to reach the United States.
