A small band of revelers march through downtown Kodiak in the annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. Jay Barrett/KMXT photo
The informal tradition of holding a small, bar-hopping Saint Patrick’s Day Parade was kept alive in Kodiak yesterday, despite the loss of its long-time ringleader. Jay Barrett has more.

Strains of bag pipes preceded a small but enthusiastic group of revelers as they marched down Shelikof Street and through the Mall yesterday for Saint Paddy’s Day. American and Irish flags waved in the breeze It’s the first time anyone involved could remember when the parade wasn’t led by the late Coyote Bowers, who passed away last year.
One reveler, bedecked almost all in green, said Bowers would probably approve:
— (Paddy 1 8 sec "I think wherever Coyote … we do miss him a lot.")
Cliff Truman led this year’s parade, but worries it may be the last one Kodiak will see:
— (Paddy 2 17 sec "Pat McDivit was the … we can keep on doing it.")
I’m Jay Barrett.
