Fogle Crushes Personal Best in Winning 800 at The Big C

Though Trevor Dunbar couldn’t break the 4-minute barrier in the mile Saturday, current Kodiak High School athletes had some success at the Big C Relay in Anchorage.

Jordan Fogle took first in the 800-meters with a time of 2-minutes and 79/100^th of a second – just a blink of the eye ahead of Joseph Dillon of Grace Christian. Fogle took eight seconds off his previous personal best time in winning the race.

Caleb Nymeyer was 4^th in the 400, just more than three-seconds off the winning time of J.J. Nixon of Dimond. Meanwhile, Cole Christiansen was fifth in the 3,200-meter at just over 10-minutes. Riley McFarlin was fifth in the 100-meter dash, just a third of a second off the winning time of Darrion Gray of Dimond. Kodiak boys were second in the 400-relay and third in the 1,600 relay.

Coach Marcus Dunbar said the Kodiak boys finished first in the 4-by-800 relay, but were disqualified for cutting in front of another team too soon. He points out the team is still credited with having the fastest time in the state so far this season.

Samantha Oliver had a throw of 31-feet 5-inches in the shot put. Jaymi Bethea (beth-ay) was second in the 800, just one second behind Jessica Todd of Dimond. She was fourth in the 300-hurdles, once again losing to Todd.

Dunbar said that for the third straight years Kodiak won the co-ed 4-by-1652 meter relay with the team of Bethea, Sarah Ng, Christiansen and Nathan Deer.
