Kodiak Cruise Ship Schedule 4.94 Kb
Cruise ship season is about to begin in Kodiak. The first ship – a large one transiting from Asia to the Lower 48 – will be in a week from Saturday, says Janet Buckingham of the local visitor center.
The week after that, the first of a summer-long series of Sunday visits will begin.
Buckingham, the executive director of the Kodiak Island Convention and Visitors Bureau, says independent travelers stay longer and spend more money with local businesses.
Holland America Lines will be making nine stops in Kodiak this year, while Silver Seas and Oceana cruise lines will be making two visits each. Orion Adventures will visit once. Passenger capacities range from 1,432 down to 100 on the Orion II, which, at 288 feet, is more of a mega-yacht than cruise ship. The last visit of the season is scheduled for early September.
