A draft schedule for the Alaska Marine Highway System’s fall and winter sailings has been released. The 2011-12 draft has been sent to the ferry system’s Community Advisory Board and is open to public comment.

Capt. Michael Neussl, who oversees the state ferry system, says there aren’t any substantial changes proposed for services to and from Kodiak

Both ferries the Tustumena and Kennicott have scheduled maintenance and there is a planned service distruption this winter. The Tustumena will go offline on Dec. 30 but the Kennicott will take over sailings between Homer and Kodiak. That will leave about a week-long gap in February.

Full details are posted on the web. Neussl says the ferry system will be taking testimony by teleconference as well as written comments.

— ferry 3 :49 "There’s a link on the … marine highway website."
