If you’ve ever wanted to work on an archeological dig and find some tremendous historically significant item, you may want to sign up for this summer’s community dig conducted by the Alutiiq Museum.
While it’s a sure bet you won’t uncover cases of ancient gold, there’s every chance you can help find a wealth of valuable information about Kodiak’s past and ancient Alutiiq culture.
If you’d like to be a part of whatever they find at this summer’s community dig, you can attend tonight’s (Thursday) pre-dig orientation meeting which begins at 7 o’clock in the museum gallery. The field work itself will be from July 25 to August 12.
Saltonstall says high school and college credit may be available for those who work the dig.
