Vital Engine Work Delays Tusty Departure

Jay Barrett/KMXT

The state ferry Tustumena sailed out of Kodiak a little late on Friday night because of an issue with the main engine. According to ferry system chief Captain Mike Neussl in Juneau, the main bearing sleeves needed immediate replacement.

He said the Tusty pulled out of its homeport about four hours late, and caught up on its schedule bit by bit over the weekend.

Port calls affected by the delay were Port Lions, Seldovia and Homer.
