Last week’s warm weather didn’t stop the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly from making winter preparations. The assembly approved a number of contracts for snow-plowing and road sanding in various locations around Kodiak.

The contracts were bumped up to the consent agenda to make more time for the public hearing on the borough wide sales tax.

Unlike the sales tax, the assembly voted unanimously for the four road maintenance contracts and awarded them to MK Construction. They had the lowest bid for the contracts. Other bidders included B-and-R Fish By Products, and Golden Alaska Excavating.
