In the election this fall for Kodiak City Council, there are two open seats and two candidates. One of those who’ve signed up is former Councilman Terry Haines, who served one term, before being edged by Charlie Davidson last y ear. The other candidate is 23-year-old Randy Bishop, part owner with his parents of the Mecca Lounge.

He is a born-and-raised Kodiaker, who graduated from Kodiak High School in 2005. He returned from college in 2009.

He said he was surprised when the filing period closed and he had no opponent in his city council race.

Bishop said his platform would be to help the city refocus where it spends money.

Like Haines, Bishop will be seated in October to a three-year term, unless someone launches a successful write-in campaign. Likewise, Pat Branson will be sworn in as Kodiak City Mayor, as she is also running unopposed. The municipal election is on October 4th.
