Kodiak Ferries Delayed by Severe Weather

Jay Barrett/KMXT

High winds and seas have delayed the two ferries that serve Kodiak. The Alaska Marine Highway System headquarters reports the Kennicott was not able to depart Kodiak as scheduled at 10:45 p.m. last night, and remains tied up here as of 11:30 this morning.

Meanwhile the Tustumena, on its way back from Unalaska, delayed its departure from Sand Point until 4 o’clock this morning, about five hours behind schedule.

In Prince William Sound, the fast ferry Chenega cancelled all its sailings today (Monday).
