About 200 Run (or Walk) the Rock for Public Radio

KMXT’s annual Run the Rock was held over the weekend under perfect conditions. About 200 people turned out to compete in races from five kilometers to a full marathon.

Peter Svenning was the winner of the men’s marathon, with a time of 3-hours 41-minutes 11-seconds. The course started this year on Near Island and went all the way to the end of Antone Larson Bay Road before backtracking to end at the Bear Valley Golf Course. Second place went to John Litzenberger, who clocked a time of 4-hours 2-minutes. Donald Sutherland was third just two minutes behind, with Nathan Faber just three minutes later. Edward Richardson was fifth.

Anna Arnold won the women’s marathon in five hours even. Gina Mozola was right behind in 5:06, followed by Sara Sundsten and Amanda Breeden with nearly identical times just over 5-hours 23-minutes.

Derek Deal edged Chad Pysher in the men’s half-marathon, with a time of 1-hour 24-minutes over Pysher’s 1:26. Brian Gann was third.

Sally Skimin won the women’s half-marathon in 1-hour 33-minutes, followed by Sarah Rohrer in 1-38, with Jennifer Foster in third in 1-40.

New this year was a 10-kilometer race. Jon Levan won the men’s event in just over 40 minutes, followed by Jan Zahradnicek and Greg Deal.

Adriane Horn took the women’s race in 45-minutes, followed by Zoe Bigley. A group of four finished tied for third.

Levi Thomet won the men’s 5-K in 16-minutes 53-seconds, followed by Julian McCarthy and Sawyer Olsen.

In the women’s 5-K, Sarah Ng won in 21-minutes 39-seconds, followed by Sonia Cortez and Mandi Cos.
