There are more uses for seafood than tasty, tasty fillets on the grill or for adding to a nice chowder. In fact, the list of things that can be extracted from fish after processing out the tasty bits is long and varied.
Research into fish byproducts is the topic of a workshop Monday here in Kodiak at the Fisheries Industrial Technology Center, with, as the USDA’s Peter Bechtel explains, special guests from the other end of the Pacific Ocean.
The workshop will be all day Monday in the Fisheries Industrial Technology Center on Near Island. Coffee and introductions start at 9 a.m., with the first topic being discussed at 10.
