On Saturday a past Alaska PTA president was in Kodiak to conduct what she calls a "Parent University." Paula Pawlowski said the program is designed to help parents become more involved with the schools.

She said how parents become engaged with their schools under the state plan is left up to the individual school districts, and those schools should develop a plan before recruiting parents:

Pawlowski said the PTA is also hosting a monthly webinar, or web seminar on the Internet, on parent engagement. The first one is tomorrow:
