If you see anyone around town with 100 feet of braided copper wire that probably isn’t theirs, the Kodiak Police Department would like for you to call them. The wire was stolen last Friday from the construction site of the city’s new ultraviolet water filtration system. Electrician Kevin Williams was first to realize the theft.

Onsite project superintendent Carl Fortune says that the wire isn’t likely to get very far.

The wire had been partially installed. An official with Jay Brandt, the contractor overseeing the construction, says the cost of the wire is just less than $400. That price doesn’t include shipment to Kodiak and the time it takes to reinstall.
