The Alaska State Ferry Tustumena spent an extra 12 hours in Kodiak over the weekend due to inclement weather. It should be back on schedule by the time it departs Homer tomorrow (Tuesday).
The Tusty left Homer early this morning and arrived in Kodiak at about 11:30 a.m., over an hour ahead of schedule. With the tide behind it, the ferry was making up to 15 knots, according to the state’s real-time ferry tracking web site.
It is expected to leave Kodiak tonight at 5:45, for a 6:15 a.m. arrival in Homer tomorrow morning, with one stop in Port Lions. Scheduled stops in Seldovia yesterday and Port Lions today were cancelled in an effort to get back on schedule.
The state’s tracking website has the latest position of the ferry, and can be found at Ferry Alaska.com.
