Kodiak Athletic Club owner Lindsey Knight made his regular January appearance on KMXT’s Jock of the Rock on Saturday, talking about healthier lifestyles for the new year. Hosts Nick Sandin and Derek Clarkston asked if he has plans to expand since the furniture store in the building has gone out of business, or if he plans to add certain amenities.

Knight is also the organizer of the annual KMXT Bench Press Competition, which is coming up on Saturday, January 21st. It’ll be at 10 a.m. in the Kodiak High School gym, with sign-in at 9:30 a.m. Contestants lift either half or all of their body weight and take pledges for how many repetitions they can do. One Jock of the Rock host, Derek Clarkston has signed up to participate.

(Knight 1 46 sec "I have the option to move … and Titans or Lindsey.")

Knight was asked about the annual Body Transformation Contest, which starts with the new year.

(Knight 2 51 sec "We’re looking for people to … that’s what makes it work.")

He said that most everyone who participates in the body transformation program comes out ahead overall, even if they backslide a bit over the course of the year.")

(Knight 3 56 sec "Actually Nick did the first … crazy like Mr. Nick over there.")

Knight points out the program isn’t about losing weight, but losing fat, which he says is a big difference:

(Knight 4 43 sec "A lot of our people not only … help you keep your muscle on.")

Along those same lines, he says cutting calories is not always enough:

(Knight 5 50 sec "Now when you cut your calories … that’s comfortable to you.")
