The Kodiak High School Bears went 3-for-4 in the last weekend of regular season basketball play against the Palmer Moose.

The Lady Bears split with the Moose up in the Valley, but Kodiak won the game that counted, which earned them the number two seed in the upcoming Northern Lights Conference Championships. The conference games are on Fridays, and Kodiak used a 45-31 win, combined with Colony’s loss to Wasilla to clinch the North’s second seed. Hannah Wandersee scored a game-high 15 points in the Bears win Friday.

Palmer won on Saturday, 45-27.

Kodiak finishes the regular season 5-5 in NLC play. Colony is also 5-5, but Kodiak has the tiebreaker over the Knights. Palmer will be the fourth seed, finishing 4-6.

In boys’ action here in Kodiak, the Bears swept the Moose. On Friday, the host Bears used an 18-3 first-quarter to propel them to a 68-50 victory. On Saturday, it took the Bears double overtime to win, 71-65.

Kodiak clinched the third seed with the wins. Both Kodiak and Palmer finished 4-6 in NLC play. Colony also clinched the North Division No. 2 seed with the Palmer losses.
