The Kenai Central softball team visited Kodiak for the opening games of the season. The Lady Bears varsity team won 10-3 on Friday, but lost 16-9 on Saturday. The Kardinals sent the Bears down in the bottom of the ninth in just minutes.

Carole Lampl is a senior on the team. She hasn’t played softball for the Bears since her freshmen year after which a knee surgery took her out of the game. She’s now healing from a shoulder injury, and a last-minute twisted ankle benched her during last weekend’s games. Lampl spoke with KMXT’s Jennifer Canfield about trying to be a team player from the sidelines and how she’s making the most of what will probably be her last season playing softball.
