Bears Drop First Game at Baseball Regions

Jay Barrett/KMXT

The Southcentral Conference baseball championship tournament started yesterday up in Kenai.

The Kodiak High School Bears, who had trouble getting out of town due to the rockslide Wednesday, played top-seeded Colony at 1 yesterday afternoon. Kodiak, the defending conference champs, fell to the Knights 7-2.

The Bears play again at 10 this (Friday) morning in the second-place bracket against Palmer, who were blanked yesterday by Kenai 10-0.

Kenai went on to get trounced themselves by Colony late yesterday 9-to-nothing.

The championship game will be held tonight at 7 between Colony and the Wasilla Warriors.

The double-elimination tournament will continue through tomorrow.

The loser of the championship game tonight will face off Saturday against the last team standing from the losers bracket to determine the second automatic bid.
