KMXT 100.1 FM Public Radio in Kodiak, Alaska
The first actual construction contract for the new Kodiak Public Library was passed by the Kodiak City Council, meaning site work should begin soon.
The contract, to Cornerstone Construction of Anchorage, is, according to City Manager Aimee Kniaziowski, for just over $1-million.

Kniaziowski said the project manager was already working on that next portion of the phased-in project, trying to clear up confusion over the actual cost:

Patty Holmes of the Kodiak Public Library Association thanked the city council for its continued support of the project:

The new library is projected to cost $13.6-million, with more than half of that coming from the state. A community fundraising campaign is about two-thirds to its goal of $750,000.
