The Kodiak Island Borough has extended its public comment period on the borough’s development code revision project to June 8th. The deadline could be extended again.
The borough’s development code was developed in the late sixties and early seventies and hasn’t been updated since. Codes regarding subdivisions, zoning and land management will all be completely revised and reorganized.
Duane Dvorak, an associate planner for the borough’s Community Development department, says that the code revision workshops the borough held a few weeks ago were popular. Dvorak says the extension will give more citizens an opportunity to learn about the revision process and voice their concerns.
The public can comment through the borough’s website.
