Old Harbor Ferry Service Starts Today

Alaska State Ferry service is set to begin to Old Harbor today (Monday). The ferry Tustumena is scheduled to arrive from Sand Point at about 6:30 this evening on its first regularly scheduled stop. It will depart an hour later, and arrive in Kodiak at 3 a.m. tomorrow.

Port calls to Old Harbor this summer will only occur as the Tustumena goes down the Alaska Peninsula and back. The earliest you can get a return ticket from Kodiak to Old Harbor is Wednesday next week (June 27). There are two other port calls scheduled so far: August 13th and 23rd.

The one-way adult passenger fare to or from Old Harbor is $44.

The community of just over 200 people becomes the 33rd community in Alaska to receive direct ferry service. It is the second town to be added to the Alaska Marine Highway System this year, as the Tustumena began calling on Ouzinkie in April.
