The Kodiak Island Borough’s finance director, Karl Short, is on a roll. The longest-serving borough employee has just won a prestigious municipal accounting award for an amazing 27th time in a row. That makes him the New York Yankees, Boston Celtics and Green Bay Packers of accounting.

Acting Borough Manager Bud Cassidy joked that Short’s awards would provide enough raw lumber to build the new high school.

The award is presented by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada, and is specifically for the borough’s budget presentation.
