Approximately 40 business leaders from around Alaska are in Kodiak today and tomorrow (Tuesday and Wednesday) to learn more about the challenges local businesses face. Group members will meet with local business owners as well as spend time touring local businesses and facilities as part of an outreach visit by the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce.

KMXT’s Brianna Gibbs spoke with Rachael Petro, the president and CEO of the statewide chamber organization. Petro said the outreach is a way to connect with people in other communities and share experiences.

She said the top three state chamber priorities are oil tax reform, litigation reform in regards to natural resources development and the high cost of energy in Alaska, which she says affect all Alaskans.
