AAC Makes Campbell CEO

The Alaska Aerospace Corporation’s board of directors has made permanent the appointment of Craig Campbell as its president and chief executive officer. The decision was made at the board meeting on Thursday and announced yesterday. Campbell had been appointed acting CEO in July, after the departure of Dale Nash.
Campbell is a retired Air National Guard general and was briefly Alaska lieutenant governor.
Pat Gamble, chairman of the AAC Board, said that Campbell will bring a combination of entrepreneurship and leadership at a time when the company needs help with growth. The corporation recently reported a loss of nearly $7-million in the last fiscal year and has laid off 20 percent of its Kodiak workforce.
Campbell said the corporation is aggressively working to secure more launch opportunities and jobs in the aerospace industry for Alaska. It has no launches scheduled until 2014. Alaska Aerospace Corporation is owned by the State of Alaska and is based in Anchorage, but operates the Kodiak Launch Complex in Pasagshak.
