Kodiak Boys Continue Dominance in Regional XC

The Region III cross-country championships were held in Soldotna over the weekend because of hazardous travel conditions on the Kenai Peninsula. However, the change from racing in Seward to racing on the Tsalteshi Trails did not stop the Kodiak boys from wrapping up their 11th straight team title. Sophomore Levi Thomet also extended the Kodiak winning streak of seven consecutive individual titles. With a time of 16-minutes 30-seconds, he edged senior teammate Cole Christiansen by just six seconds.
After earning 76 points and finishing fourth, the Kodiak girls just missed their chance of making it to state, as only the top three 4A schools go. Wasilla defended its team title.

Meanwhile on the gridiron, there wasn’t any action in Kodiak over the weekend, once again because of weather problems. The Homer Mariners – Kodiak Bears football game has been rescheduled again, to this evening at 5:30 p.m. It was originally scheduled for Saturday, and then Sunday.
