The 22-match home winning streak of the Kodiak High School boys cross country team ended Friday afternoon when the West Valley Wolfpack beat the Kodiak Bears on the Fort Abercrombie trails. It’s the first loss for the boys there since 2000.
Though Kodiak had the first two finishers in Cole Christiansen and Levi Thomet, the Wolfpack had six of the next seven runners to cross the finish line, to win the meet 27-to-31. Levi Fried was sixth. Skyview was third overall and Kotzebue fourth.
The Lady Bears won the team title handily with 22 points, while West Valley was second with 35, led by Dorothy O’Donell, who finished first.
Today all four teams are racing in Port Lions.
In volleyball, the Soldotna Stars took the varsity match three sets to one.
The varsity football team is in Juneau playing Thunder Mountain.
