Bears Upset Moose, Win Berth to State

With their opening round wins on Thursday, the Kodiak Bears have qualified to go to the state volleyball tournament next week. Kodiak downed Wasilla 3-0 in the first round match, and later in the quarterfinals shocked the number 1-seeded Palmer Moose 3-1. The second-ranked Soldotna Stars got a bye in the first round and came out to sweep the Colony Knights 3-0.
Kenai and Palmer face off at 11 this morning, with the loser going home. At 1 p.m. Wasilla and Colony try to advance.
Kodiak and Soldotna play at 5 p.m., and at 7 p.m. the winners of the day’s first two games face off for the third berth to state.
