The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly is likely to get an ear full during tonight’s assembly work session.
This will be the first gathering of the assembly since last weekend’s meeting of about 30 residents concerned about hauling sludge from the wastewater treatment plant to a proposed composting site in Middle Bay.
The sludge disposal is not on the agenda itself, but there is a public comment period early in the meeting, and the Landfill Expansion Project is one of the items for discussion. It’s likely that the subject of sludge disposal will come up during both those items.
Since this is a work session, the assembly can take no action on any of the matters being considered.
In other items, the assembly will also look at a proposed ordinance designed to make information about borough contracts more readily available to the public.
And, at the end of the meeting, an executive session is scheduled to review applicants for the borough manager position.
The work session begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Borough Assembly Chambers.
