Tonight (Friday) the Colorado-based band Salem will take to the stage at the Rendezvous. It’s the first time the band has been to Kodiak, but as singer-songwriter Todd Anders Johnson said, it’s been on the wish list for many years. The band, which formed in 2004, boats an eclectic sound.
Johnson said the group’s music is definitely a mixture, and attendees shouldn’t be surprised to see some songs cross different musical genres.
But it isn’t just music that brings the group to Kodiak. In addition to being a musician, Johnson is also an environmental activist. He said he has plans to meet with members of Kodiak Electric Association and learn more about the Pillar Mountain wind farm. His hope is to film the experience and hopefully feature it in some of his other projects from around the state.
As for the music, Salem will take the stage at 9 p.m. at the Rendezvous.
