Lindquist and Hughes Win Double State Titles

The Kodiak High School girls swim team could not repeat as state champions at the meet in Juneau, but the team still had plenty to celebrate, with four state titles and another state record set.
Tahna Lindquist and Ila Hughes each won two events.
Lindquist, a junior, replaced her sister Jorie in the record book. Her time of 2-minutes 5-seconds in the 200 individual medley sliced more than 1.5 seconds off her sister’s record of 2-minutes 6.63-seconds set last season. She also won the 500 freestyle by 11-seconds, finishing in 4-minutes 57-seconds.
Hughes is state champion in both the 100 and 200 freestyle.
As a team, the Bears were third with 64 points, behind Juneau’s 88 and Dimond’s 85.
The Kodiak boys were 7th, with 45 points. Dimond took the state team title with 78, followed by Sitka, Service, Thunder Mountain and Petersburg.
