Joe Floyd Tournament Games Start Today

The 47th annual Joe Floyd Winter Classic Basketball Tournament kicks off Thursday afternoon at the Kodiak High School gym. Six teams from out of town will be on the island to play against the Kodiak High School Bears in the round-robin tournament.
On the girls’ side, Dimond, West Vally and Sitka are visiting, while Soldotna, Bristol Bay and Unalakleet fill out the boys’ bracket.
In a round-robin tournament, all games are pre-scheduled, and all teams play each other. Action starts at 3 this afternoon with the Soldotna Stars playing Naknek’s Bristol Bay Angels. The Dimond and West Valley girls face off at 4:45, and after a dinner break, the Kodiak Bears face the Unalakleet Wolfpack at 6:30. Day one play wraps up with the Lady Bears facing the Sitka Wolves.
Game times tomorrow are the same, with the Sitka and Dimond girls playing at 3, Unalakleet and Soldotna boys at 4:45, Lady Bears versus West Valley at 6:30 and the Kodiak boys against Bristol Bay at 8:15.
Games on Saturday are earlier, with the West Valley and Sitka girls at 1:30, Bristol Bay and Unalakleet boys at 3:15, the Kodiak girls and Dimond at 5 and the Kodiak boys versus SoHi at 6:45.
