Kodiak 2nd and 5th at Track & Field Regions

Jay Barrett/KMXT
Despite a dominant performance in the distance races and relays, the Kodiak High School boys still came up short in their quest for a ninth straight Region III track and field title. Colony’s 152 points edged Kodiak’s 143 for the championship.
Kodiak’s Kordell Pillans won two individual titles, placing first in the shot put with a throw just a half-inch short of 50 feet and a discus toss over 128 feet. Kodiak’s Levi Thomet won the 1,600 and 3,200 meter races, and was second to teammate Levi Fried in the 800. The Bears also swept all four relays, the 400, 800, 1,600 and 3,200.
The Kodiak girls were fifth overall with 40 points, while Colony took the region title with 173.
We’ve got full results after the jump.
