A Kodiak woman was transported to Anchorage on Monday for treatment of injuries sustained when she was hit by a car on Mill Bay Road.
According to a press release from the Kodiak Police Department witnesses say 67-year-old Julia Wiley was waiting to cross Mill Bay from the corner of Thorshiem Street. Wiley crossed when a vehicle stopped to allow her but was then struck by an oncoming Jeep, driven by 18-year-old Blake Still.
Wiley was transported to Anchorage with a broken leg and multiple fractures to her hips.
The release said Still was issued citations for driving without insurance and failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision. His mother, Elizabeth Still, was in the vehicle when the accident occurred and was cited for having an open container of alcohol.
Police say an investigation determined that neither alcohol or speed was a factor in the incident.
